Why we do the things we do ….

Roadrunner, is a six-piece tribute to the timeless groove created by the Jerry Garcia Band.

Led by lead guitarist/vocalist (and devoted deadhead), Tyler James, who formed the band with a mission to celebrate the joy he and so many others experienced following the Grateful Dead and the Jerry Garcia Band.

As the band took shape, Tyler then brought good friend and bassist, Phil Sgamma, and local drummer, Bob Johnson, to join his mission. As the band grew, another deadhead, Elyse B, was found signing in bar and was soon invited to be a back-up vocalist. Through Elyse, Roadrunner then found its keyboardist, Jason Freeman, who brought his own updated sound and love for JGB through his dynamic solos. To complete the band, the soulful rock ‘n’ roll singer, Julie Nelson (friend of Bob’s!), joined to accompany Elyse on back-up vocals.

Together, Roadrunner has developed a sound that is strives to closely recreate original JGB sets and (hopefully) capture some of the same magic made by the Jerry Garcia Band.
